As above,to test the pump, have fit washer hoses to the 2 outlets and the cold outlet gives a much higher flow rate than the hot.Is this normal? The hot is fed from a flange on the cylinder and the cold from the header tank. The pump is about 9 yrs old.Thanx for any help.
    Regards.

You only get out what you put in with a twin headed pump.

Thanks for that.So although the pressure into the pump should be the same on h and c the flow rate of the hot is lower since it has to run thro the cylinder first?

The cold feed to the cylinder drops vertically 3M from the header tank and looks to be in 1 1/4 copper. From the top of the cylinder, 22mm copper to the pump. The tank is 50G.The cold feed to the pump is 22mm plastic from the header tank.

    You have different pressures.

Yes, Just Pumps is correct. As his username suggests, he works with pumps.
It depends on what you put into the pump.
The hot will be a little more restricted.
But you didn’t say whether it is a brand new install or existing?
Got to check any filters - on pump inlets and on shower valves. The filters on the hot supply and on hot at shower valve are very commonly blocked.

Thanks for the nod Heat, understand it is 9yrs old however the OP is testing it so unclear if it has just been purchased to replace one or for a new project. Personally I wouldn`t bother at that age but money can be short for some in this day and age.

Sorry, - completely missed the OPs line - “The pump is about 9 yrs old”.
As it is 9 years old, as well as partial blockages at filters, etc, the impeller could be damaged if plastic

If you can't find any obvious cause and do decide to replace the pump, then take a look at Stuart and Turner pumps, especially their Monsoon range. Expensive, but very good. Screwfix do them and definitely at a reasonable cost

Easy pump to dismantle and have a look around the inlet, outlet and the impeller.
