Only non-registered spark would be able to avoid owning a copy of the latest regs, so it would seem this is what you are going to do. Ergo, you are a cowboy. Also, it's a public forum. If you don't want to air your dirty laundry in public, I would suggest you stop posting rather than accusing me of making "snidey" comments and being nosy.
You can get the required information without owning the physical book so get your facts straight before you slander innocent people. Being registered is not an indication of competence either so what is your issue with being registered or not? No dirty laundry just cold hard facts. Think before you type
You need to be registered in order to comply with Part P of the building regs. It's a legal requirement, its NOT slander. In order to comply you need to be registered. If you are registered your registered body will require you to own a copy of the latest regs, perhaps even the latest qualification. You know this already. I agree being registered or not is NOT be a indication of competence, I am not registered but I AM competent. My "issue" is that I DO NOT carry out chargeable work for customers, I only DIY. Well, unless, of course, you only DIY yourself? Otherwise, you're are a cowboy.
I just passed my exam It cost me £159 with an online course and the C&G exam included. I can 100% recommend it! The course was done by Trevor Webb and it is a series of video presentations, plus revision questions and an exam simulator. I find the course on YouTube since the first part is up there for free... It is really, really good.
I think you should seek medical assistance for your forum addiction, Lee. You clearly have some kind of mental instability that forces you to regularly find ways of posting on this forum under different pseudonyms, all of which leave a trace of a connection to the Leesparkykent you used originally. You have been banned form the forum, Lee, it is easy to see why. I really would recommend you get medical help from a mental specialist to cure your addiction.
The price is high partly for the reasons you state and it is a tax deductible item, as is the course and exam( and overalls). The amount of deduction claimed will depend upon your business structure.
You do not need to be registered to comply with building control at all so kindly get your facts right,3rd party inspection and testing is permitted under the right circumstances. You are also on another thread telling someone else NOT to listen to building control's advice so which one is it? Listen to building control or not listen to building control??? Make your mind up time. Yeeeee-Haaaaaaa
You can also tell BC you are doing work and pay the fee to them and let them get all the relevant paperwork in order. No need to be part pee registered that way.
The main issue with that is you are supposed to get approval to do that FIRST before the job starts. What tends to be happening is the unscrupulous electricians are doing all of the work first, then hoping someone else will be able to produce a test certificate for satisfying Part P. That was never the intention. To be honest the whole Part P has been mis-managed and mal administered by everyone from start to finish. BC have made up their own rules, nobody has been bothered enough to take them to task and there is no enforcement whatsoever with major inconsistency in its application across the board. Electricians, too, have made up their own rules and decided that it is okay for someone else to sign work off. It really boils down to an age old problem within the industry, that of electricians being pretty much clueless when it comes to testing and only a small percentage actually understand it and practice it. The excuses that you hear are laughable.
What makes it even worse is that it is the business that is Part P registered, not the electrician. As I have said before, I was full scope NICEIC QS. When I left the company I was immediately no longer able to sign off work, but the company with no spark on their books had 6 months to employ a spark to sign of work he had not been involved with before they lost their registration. The whole system is a farce to allow the scam providers to make their money. Kind regards
What that two posts were posted at the same time by two different members? Yes very spooky that! I think you may need to grow up.
