I have bought a xq lite 20w motion sensor light which is led and i am looking to wire it to a 3 pin plug but inside the light it has 6 slots for wires 2 dont have any wires in them N is on the left E is the middle and L is next to it do i put the earth cable from the plug in with the other wire in the earth slot and then N and L as it says
I see what you mean. Confusing. You have three wires from your plug. On the terminal block. Counting from the left Neutral goes on connector 1 Earth to 2 with the wire that’s already there Live to 3 You’ll need a 3Amp fuse in that plug Good luck.
It’s usually in the instructions. But usually a light will be not more than 3A. They tend to have thinner wires.
I've never believed all the hype about using the correct fuse in a plug, does it really matter. The other thread about the cooker feed is saying its ok to have a thinner oven flex connected to a 6mm/32A because the oven is a fixed load and can't overload the flex. Whats the difference with a table lamp with a 3A fuse in the plug? They state now that a 3A fuse should be used in an extractor fan circuit yet the fan is a fixed load so it will never burn out the cable. Unless of course the fan seizes and supposedly draws extra current melting the wiring, how is this different to the fan on the oven above doing the same thing? A load of old ****** if you ask me.
