Leaky compressor?

My little 6l compressor leaks air from the air control knob? If you turn it fully out it stops.
Then when you wind it in to increase pressure it starts to leak? I've taken it fully out and it's just a threaded knob so is there any way to stop it?

    No O ring seal.

No, it just seemed to be threaded at the end of the knob? Not sure where a o ring would fit?

I suppose it could have perished over the years and be inside somewhere?

Have you a photo? Air regulators can be picked up cheap and easy to replace.

'The control knob', is this the pressure regulator, if it is, fit a new one as the diaphragm in the present regulator may be punctured.

Hi thanks, I had a look on eBay and they are only £7 for the complete gauge and regulator.....I ordered a 24lt SGS 2.5 horse power which came today, a lot quieter and I shot 50 brads or more before the compressor kicked in again so I'll keep the faulty one as a spare
