windows below chimneys

    TSB have been running a TV ad in which a house is shown being built with a chimney at the top of each gable-end, and a window in the middle of each gable-end. How is this possible?

    No wonder its boarded up, some idiot put a window in the chimney. :D :D:D

    most old chimneys weren't build vertical, they tended to have a bend in them - traditionally to stop witches flying down them ;) Simply in some cases the fireplaces weren't central to the house, so they just sloped them up to the ridge like below
