One of the best tools ever is the flexi bucket/trug. They used to be super tough, made of recycled tyres mostly, but now they are really cheap and nasty made of poor quality polythene. Does anyone know of a good quality product the will not split after a few months use please?
Sospan raised this a while back IIRC. I also think he found a solution at an equine supplies store. Those tubs are designed to take a kicking. I'll try to find the thread
This thread. https://community.screwfix.com/threads/rubble-tubs.188489/page-2 Sos went with Pro Stable animal feed tubs like these. https://fearnsfarm.co.uk/feed-bucket-feed-skip-rubber-bowl
the one KIAB linked to had full size ones too: https://fearnsfarm.co.uk/stable-and-field/feed-and-water-containers/TUBTRUG-FLEXIBLE-BUCKET-GREEN Which took very similar to the ones SF have in their "Rural Supplies" section https://www.screwfix.com/p/faulks-cox-plastic-tubtrug/9272g However the first is £17.80 and the SF one is £15.99 so maybe worth checking out
First flexi tub I bought must have been at least 20 years ago and I thought it was the best tool ever. It was a yellow very flexible tub and lasted a few years I think. Ever since then they have all been splitting. Got some recently though which seem good. Will post a link if I can find their brand. Think they are British.
Thanks I may give the Screwfix one a try, but I will wait to see if Heat can find a link first. Thank you Heat be grateful if you can as you are pleased with them. Thought there was an old thread but gave up looking for it
I should warn you I have looked after my 2 new flexi tubs so far, therefore they might not be much better than the rest. Wouldn’t it be great if we could buy hard wearing quality stuff, even if it did cost 3 or 4 times the price initially? Going now to check if I can find a name on them.
Mine are called Plastic Forde and have PE-LD code for material type. Actually Spanish, so I was wrong. So I think you are best going for the more expensive type.
I see it is made of low density polyethylene by the lettering code, so probably going to split if abused. I am trying to take care of mine, so can’t say how long they will last. I might go for the SF tubs later
Yes, I got a lot of animal feed buckets which are useful for hauling rubble into skips - they are quite heavy but take a pounding I also got these - the metal handles work but don't stay on long. If I have an SF order and it is below a voucher or promotion threshold I top up the orders with these. B&Q also do them in singles https://www.screwfix.com/p/active-ultimate-builders-tub-26ltr-black-3-pack/4103k
The one you mentioned above and the feed skip is like the ones I have. Really tough but quite heavy but withstand a lot of abuse.
Ordered one it came today from Red Gorilla, looks sturdy nice chunky handles that will not cut into your hands and nicely flexible. They also do a vinyl heavy duty one which I ordered too, it looks strong but the rubber one looks better in my opinion.
