I'm wondering if red oxide paint is more reliable than other metal anti rust primers?

I've been looking at Rustin's quick dry in both red oxide and their standard anti rust metal primer.

Most paints are rubbish due to EU regulations on what can and cant be in them now.

What i will say is stay well away from Flag anti rust primers, they are beyond rubbish.

I had some Kurust converter left over and decided to use it up. I notice the manufacturer states to not get it on existing paintwork which is often impractical advise. If you do though it seems to stay wet for a long time.

I believe Marine paint avoids EU regs. I may try this next time

Use VACTAN rust neutraliser prior to painting which is also a primer.

This looks promising. Is Vactan water resistant once applied..unlike Kurust which needs top coating quickly?
