I have a MK 3 gang 13a socket which I want to install into a dry wall but can’t find a plastic 3 gang dry lining box. I’m thinking I might have to flush mount it using an Mk 3 gang patress but would prefer to recess it for appearances. Any ideas ?
Use a 3 gang metal back box. Fix lengths of timber top and bottom of the hole to the plaster board, then screw the back box to the timber.
Found them to be pretty useless, have found it better to fix timber to the sides and fix the box to that.
Strange innit that SF sell this MK 3G socket but not a 3G metal back box Yep they sell a 3G placcy pattress I know BQ sell 3G back box if your looking for a large shed supplier - obviously other suppliers as well
But lots of other vendors do! eg https://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Products/MKK0863.html or search for MK K863
In my post Bazza, I suggested B&Q as an example as the OP may have a branch near to him I then said ‘obviously other suppliers as well’ I’m not saying that finding a 3G metal back box is like the search for the Holy Grail Just find it odd that SF sell the faceplate but not the back box Although, obviously, other suppliers do
He’d be lucky to find it in B&Q! Vendors like. SFX & the sheds only stock what they can shift in volume. A minute on Google will locate one, I would think.
Seriously Bazza, I try and give a little advice here and there and talk from experience, not just empty words and BS It's so easy nowadays to source items on-line, I suggested BQ as it may be convenient for the op Also, we can all learn new stuff every day.....if we just accept it https://www.diy.com/departments/mk-35mm-steel-triple-knockout-box/178629_BQ.prd
Dave, i was never having a go, just trying to help the OP. And you are right, B&Q do stock these (I'm suprised) and they seem to have stock at my local store! hashtag embarrassedface (or whatever the kids say these days). Best wishes Bazza
Sorry mate, I’m just a bit tetchy today, and I don’t mind admitting it (Work stress,,,,, blah blah blah and etc) I knew about B&Q as I got the faceplate from SF and box from BQ As ever, probably better price available elsewhere but up to the OP Thanks for your reply though, no embarrassment required and as for hashtags....... I really don’t get the point Have a good weekend Bazza
How do they work, how would you get it through the square hole in the plasterboard, looks like it would be easy to drop some of it in the cavity trying to fix it together. I have seen these which look like a good idea and not all that expensive. Beats cutting your own noggins or waiting for the joiner to cut them for you because you are can't touch his precious chop saw. https://www.walraven.com/en/britclips/
