Can someone settle an argument please? I say you cannot route a curved edge on a worktop that has a rounded front edge - my mate says you can. also can someone recommend a jig for cutting curves?

    You can, most worktop jigs.

    Brevity is your passion Chippie.

    I'd be interested also.

Presumably you have to have a router bit to match the curve/rounded/profiled edge of the worktop.

You should have a rounded corner on your jig, set it up so your cutter goes into the worktop by the thickness of the laminate and flush on the other edge, cut your edging trim to exactly the right length and Bob's your uncle and Fanny's a daft name.

You can certainly bring a curved edge onto the pre-formed edge of a worktop. Most worktop jigs have edges at different radiuses for that exact purpose.
I'm a bit uncertain of the question, though.
Do you mean you can't curve the edge and also route in the profile of the the round over?
If that's the case then in theory it is possible with the correct cutter, but I doubt you'd find an edging strip to accommodate.

It’s same answer as to when asked can you put laminate work tops on a Belfast sink... you can but it’s a bodge, a curve with laminate requires square edge work tops.

Is it a solid wood worktop or laminated?

I was presuming routing the curve on a breakfast bar front.

Yes you can put a curve on laminate postformed tops, it has to be a very shallow curve though. A full curve into a postformed edge looks absolutely horrid though, just a large area of black where you have to file the edging to meet the postform.

It does depend on the colour of the worktop with laminate.
