Hi, I ordered a replacement RMT230, but when going to replace the old one, my old thermostat has 3 wires whilst the replacement does not have the terminal for the Neutral wire (Blue) which goes to the accelerator. My question is, can I simply not use the neutral? If so, what effect overall will it have on the heating system without having the accelerator? Will this have a negative impact on the performance? I have the earth already not in use, but I've read other threads where when 'upgrading' to a digital thermostat and only 2 wires are required, it has been stated that the blue should be taped off and left unused. I was wondering if it is the same in this circumstance? The first image is the same as mine wired. The second is what I have received and looking to replace the old one with. Thanks in advance.
Nor me. Will it have some negative effect on performance? Almost certainly. I think it was just the wrong one to buy, I'm afraid.
There appear to be several versions, including the 2-wire version that the OP has. Didn’t know that either. Every day’s a school day. It’s all here. http://heating.danfoss.com/PCMPDF/352.pdf
It will work ok, but not as accurately as one with an accelerator. You’ll need to put the blue wire in a bit of insulated terminal block.
If it can be done with 2 wires then why not just supply the normal stat with neutral but give the option not use it.
