    Painting Bathroom Ceiling

I've just had a new ceiling installed in my bathroom and skimmed with plaster to finish. What sort of paints do I need to paint it?

Im guessing I start with an undercoat but Im not sure what sort.
Then go over that with a bathroom paint. Again Im not sure what sort.

If someone could outline what sort of paints I need that would be great :)

There is a search function and this comes up all the time but basically, mist coat, undercoat, eggshell.

Can I use standard emulsion as an undercoat?

I have some spare emulsion so was thinking I could thin that for the mist coat, then use some non-thinned emulsion as an undercoat.

Did you use the search function?

  5. If the emulsion you have is 'non vinyl' then that should be fine as an undercoat if diluted with water, 20% at least.
Most bathroom paints are a silk finish, if you prefer a matt finish (which will look nicer), something like Crown Steracryl would be a good call, suitable for bathrooms and with an added fungicide.

Keep things simple, apply a non vinyl for the mist coat then go to B&Q and buy a tub of Dulux Bathroom paint.
