I don't melt it down and cast an ingot. I just fill the box up with loose bits of lead and take it down the scrapyard.

It weighs about the same as a bag of cement.

    You might be right though.

Maybe I can lift 10 bags of cement at the same time.

It is Smith's in Syston. I've just called in. £2.50/kg for taps etc and £3.00/kg for for copper tube. I've no idea how that compares...
    Hope this helps.

Certainly not rip-off prices but better are available.

Its generally speaking better not to sell non-ferrous stuff in December or January as the prices are always lower.

I last weighed in in Nov. I think I got £3 odd for brass. About £3.80 for copper. £1 for lead and about £0.75 for ally and stainless.

Thanks folks. Whites are looking good at the moment. I'll give them a try.

Tell Gareth a full time joiner turned part time rag and bone man recommended them to you! He will know who it is!

Braunstone Gate Goods Yard ( old Great Central Railway land ) 'Twas the place BR engines went to die. Hundreds of them in there, waiting to be scrapped at one time.
