Guys After a bit of advice, the sideboard cabinet had some reed defusier (room fragnace) spilled on it. Seems like it's stripped the top layer coating. Tried many products to clean it with but can clearly see dull patches. Anything you can recommend to restore the original colour back? Or to improve its current look. Thanks in advance
Maybe you could team up with the other person on here who is complaining about the impotence of paint strippers these days.
What products have you tried so far, have you tried polishing it using brasso, aluminium polish or even toothpaste with a soft cloth or microfibre cloth.
Tried all the standard conventional cleaners. It's stripped the top layer of coloring. I need something to restore it. Was thinking of black shoe polish? What material is the sideboard?
Use wet and dry paper to flatten off the whole top and then re ebonise it. Shoe polish will not last.
There is a special place in hell for people who use stink up rooms with those things. Having to re-ebonise your cabinet top is hopefully, mere purgatory and worse is to come.
Oh dont be saying that, dreading touching it already in that case......not a black film or something i can just stick on top
Stick on film 'Fablon'. Re ebonising is just a term used for colouring/painting it black. Paint it matt black emulsion and use Sadolin clear polyurethane satin varnish to seal it.
Fablon film or painitng????....think i would stick with the film option. Less messy......unless anyone has other options
Make sure the surface is clean free from any silicon type household cleaners also be aware of air bubbles.
Hi I went with the fablon warp advice and look at the before and after pictures. Thanks for all the help guys.. Looks much better already
