Screwfix and B&Q are both owned by the same company, Kingfisher.

Thankyou for the info . Was not sure . It will be interesting to see if the design goes back to the wider battery case like in South America still have

And given a German sounding name to perhaps imply ‘quality’

It’s a subtle marketing ploy that helps to bolster the brand image - possibly :)

It might be my OCD, but it’s always bothered me that it’s not quite German.

“He builds” would be Erbaut. Erbauer means “he farmer” - although thinking about it, farmers work with s*** too.

Erbauer stuff on a par with Lidl and Aldi middle aisle stuff. Good value but only for occasional use

Kingfisher a massive corporation, what really frosts my cookies is the new range the so called EXT range have different wiring pins so you cant switch between new and old.... so you gotta go out and buy new batteries and chargers as with most ive got the old ones comming out of my ears ( knew I should have stuck to uying BOSCH.......

This is the issue with third brand stuff. I know if I buy a Makita drill there is a chance it is still made by another firm in China but at least I know I will always get support from Makita. With own brand stuff you just don't know what you're getting. If the company is making a good margin on the tools they can afford to offer good warranties etc knowing that 30% may be returned within the warranty. The warranty is accounted for in the price.

Tbh, I buy the occasional power tool from Lidl. Look a bit more ‘pro’ than Aldi :D
