Hi guys, Looking for some advice on opening up my chimney breast. There are two fire places in front and back room leading to one stack. The back room one is a little different I need to to create depth and width but unsure if it’s safe to remove said bricks. Previous one was straight forward fitted lintel and replaced brickwork this one is a lot trickier any advice would be appreciated. Thank you jay
Hi I fitted mine, forward of the opening, with the flue pipe off the back of the burner, (Franco belge) good make, You can cook on it then. ! This give lots of extra heat in the room, Regards Peter
I was thinking that but the opening is still only 57cm wide and you need a 15cm clearance either side and I want it sitting at At least half/part in the chimney breast. so unless I have it totally in front of the breast (which would look a bit mad) I still need to increase the width of opening.
I’m going to hardiebacker and tile it reducing it further. The stove would have to be around 30cm wide
