Seen today, the ceo of both DIY store B&Q and Screwfix has left her position of CEO.
Expect that Brexit was part of the problem.

Stores are terrible. Discontinued stock space still labeled up but shelves empty. Trade point store sat empty. Been seeing myself things have stopped and stores have lost there way . Online shopping has hit them.. Imo

B&Q are falling into the same trap as Maplin...desserting their core market and customer base that got them to where they are to try and chase higher margin opportunities.
They are more interested in selling fitted kitchens and bedrooms than DIY tools and materials.

Maplin's business was built on selling small quantities of electronic components and specialist electronics items to a loyal customer base, but decided to focus on "kids toys" e.g. remote controlled cars, drones, cameras etc, where the margins are higher but the market was saturated long ago.

As I said in other thread,it's a case of a bad workman blaming his tools.

So many things wrong with B&Q,it's the same with Wickes.

Of all the DIY chains, Homebase has got to be the worst. They really don't have the slightest clue what to be ... they're bad at EVERYTHING they try!

I have to say Wickes or at least my local ones are on their game at the moment.

Good stock levels, lots of genuine good offers and the Click and Collect works well

    B&Q though? Terrible.

If Wickes stores had a Vertical Panel Saw & offered a cutting service for sheet materials, would be great.
Also stock longer lengths of timber like 3,6mtr, 4.2mtr,etc.

And a better layout, like having a loading bay door at the heavy side end, so you don't need to push say 5 bags of opc the length of the store to the tills.

My local B&Q has closed their cutting service and that was the only thing I used it for other than cheap cabinets and drawers.

I'm aware of 2 B&Q stores, (Canterbury and Clacton) that have the equipment but have signs up, permanently it seems, saying "Wood cutting service not available"
Waste of money on equipment and floorspace.
I'd use both more if they worked!

One store don't use it & another gets rid of it,totally crazy.

And the staff at Bristol B&Q haven't no idea how to use saw correctly, wanted some 18mm ply cut with bevel edge, oik had no idea how to set up saw,I gave up with him & just walked off in despair.

I've never seen a wall saw that can do a bevel cut.

    Think it was HOLZ-HER saw.

But, Putsch-Meniconi UNIVER SVP 145-45 saw is another that will cut a bevel.

    I've used a few Holz-her and none cut a bevel, B&Q saws certainly can't.

Funnily enough, I've just received an email from trade point that states:
You have purchased £0.00 on your trade account last month so won't be eligible for any discount this month..?
Thanks, B&Poo, but you also sent me the same message the previous month, in fact I've probably not even spent the magical £250 qualifier for a measly discount in a whole year, never mind a month.

Same with me. Instead of telling us what we haven’t achieved, you would think they would offer some incentives that are actually easily achievable.
