    Looking for some advice.
Our coalbase for the Baxi Bermuda fire has a crack right across the top of t. I have priced a replacement and it coming in at about £200 inc VAT.
Can the fire be safely used without replacing this or is it a vital part of the workings and not just cosmetic.
Your help would be greatly appreciated

Surprise they are still available, would have thought them obsolete now.

Known to be terribly inefficient and difficult to get spare parts for these days.

Yes, most parts must be obsolete now.

Went to house other week & it still had a working Parkray solid fuel fire, fitted when house was new in 60's or 70's.

Look on ebay and Google will suggest sites to look at.

Better to put money to a new boiler & scrap the Baxi, very inefficent compared to a modern boiler.

Yeah, I have had a look but the availability is poor and the price is over £200. So just wondering if it needs to be replaced or not.

£200 would be a good saving as opposed to having a replacement boiler fitted, really up to you, I would think the baxi is regularly serviced to be lasting this length of time and suppose if it is and has given you good service over the years £200 may be considered a sensible investment.
