After a life time using a hacksaw, stanley knife and file, I have just moved into the 21st century and bought a rothenberger waste pipe cutter/plasticut kit. Wow what a flippin revelation, clip on turn, whoosh done, quick spray with soapy water for pushfit and jobs a goodun.
There decent waste pipe cutters, handy in awkward pipe locations Roth also do a 110 plastic pipe cut & chamfering tool, only seen them used by import workers thou.
I always use solvent weld, except when I am making a mod to existing pushfit wastes which was its first job, it was a joy to use. Haven't tried it on solv yet
Make sure you chamfer the end of cut pipe so that the O ring in the push fitting doesn’t get pushed out of position or damaged. Push fit waste pipe is good for many jobs if installed correctly. Must confess I have most tools and many I don’t really need, but I never have bought or used plastic pipe cutters. I just use a Roth pipe slice shear. Maybe time I bought a plastic pipe slice kit next time Screwfix has a deal
I've got em they are aa bit tight on abs though but do it very handy items. So ddo the do a 110mm slice did someone say? Have to use a vice though or two pairs of hands seem a bit uneccesary to me
Seen these but not used them. I have a pair of these and find they are brilliant. This covers all the sizes, as dont see a 25mm size in the kit.
Will these cut waste pipe then ? Say 32 and 40mm ? Seen them, thought were for cutting poly pipe stuff ?
Yes they will cut it. I use them quite often and although expensive they are worth it. 40mm solvent weld pipe just fits in but it will cut it.
I use similar older Roth version of the above pipe shear. You squeeze the handle to tighten blades against the 40mm or 32mm waste pipes and then move the cutter around the pipe initially as you cut into pipe. Works well
