So I have bought a brand new circular saw. Fitted the blade with the Allen key. Turned the thing on and tested the blade. The safety guard thing has come down a bit and the blade may have hit it. It's now jammed. Never even touched a piece of wood. Don't know if it is me or a faulty saw. I've tried to use the Allen key to take the blade off, it's stuck solid must be a safety switch. The guard that came up when I put blade up is stuck solid at 8 o'clock to the left. It came right up to 12 when I put the blade on don't know what happen. Is there anything I can do?
It is isolated from the supply. I plugged it backin again and tried again and I could smell a burning from the motor. Noone any idea if it's my fault or a manufacturer fault?
What brand of saw? Did it come with the blade or did you buy one separate? Most saws have a button to lock in and hold down over the body and then use the Allen key to undo the screw, it’s probably a reverse thread so turn it clockwise.
It is brand new and came with the blade. Your right there was Allen key with it which I used to attach the blade no problem. Now it's jammed and the Allen key won't turn even if I hit it with a hammet
It sounds like the blade lock is still engaged. Photo or at least model number would help. However don’t try turning it on you will just break it if it’s not already.
Thought as much, I suppose it’s one up from Silverline at least. Probably why the guy hasn’t clarified what make, too embarrassed.
