Hi all, I am trying to order a click and collect from Bude branch, when I try to check out, it takes my payment as usual but then says " city is missing from shipping address" - don't understand? anyone else getting this or any ideas, I can't speak to anyone because the call centre is closed.
I had that this morning it actually went all the way through the payment stage and even the banking security page showed up and went through the motions but then the page returned to the purchase page again and said that the city was missing from the address, tried it a second time and it wouldn't even load the banking page, I solved the problem by getting it from Denmans instead, £10 cheaper as well.
Thanks Peter, It wouldn't work at all on my pc, so I downloaded the app on my phone and used it to link to their mobile browser page on my phone and cashed out immediately, strangely even the things that were not in stock (via pc) suddenly became 'in stock' and two minutes later I got a text saying that my order was ready for collection. I have since collected and everything was as expected!
What sort of items did you order? I have heard - from an impeccable source, that SF have had their knuckles rapped for selling items such as lawnmowers! They are NOT, in my mind, essential. And if people bend or break the rules then then access to real essential will become much harder.
Thanks Mike -It was some bitumen paint, some undercoat and T&E cable to replace a ceiling under a leaking flat roof, which will enable an old lady to have a drip free kitchen with lights that don't drip either!, but I do understand your point.
That is reasonable and SF have to police it. Go on the website and search Lawnmowers, Log Splitter, or Water Butt - all are missing or not found and most of the gardening section is the same. Showers are there, but shower trays are no direct delivery only ... and so on across the site.
Paint NO, however if you know what to look for: https://www.screwfix.com/c/building...tik&cm_sp=managedredirect-_-building-_-bostik the bitumen repair compounds are there.
Mental health and well being is very important in these trying times. So providing ALL supplies to allow people to do something constructive is positive....and from what i can see is virtually risk free. Picking up supplies from wholesalers on click and collect, at 2 metres...is a lot better than travelling on the train packed in like sardines. We went for a walk and picnic today for 2 hours NO ONE about in the woods. What risk to man nor beast ?
And I shall be doing it ..every day..as often as i wish.....when weather allows ....at my discretion. The middle of a deserted AONB is no problem to anyone.
I agree totally, this is the only time we are likely to get to actually do stuff on our own house instead of someone elses, and not only that, there is absolutely **** all else to do. Whats the point in being fit and healthy if your existence is no more than staring at four walls like a condemned prisoner, mental health is everything. And Screwfix take this decision to only supply essentials, well **** Screwfix, it will be remembered. If this goes on for many months like it could well do, on the first night of freedom when the pubs open again the whole of the population will be out on the town like its the last night on earth and the number one priority will be to catch the virus, it will either kill us all or we will be immune forever, either way it won't be lock down ever again.
Its the same with alcohol sales, goody two shoes type people are questioning why shops like off-licence's are allowed to stay open because booze isn't an essential item. Well when there is absolutely nothing to do getting ****** every day makes it just about bearable. If they ban alcohol sales like may have happened in France then every shut off licence and pub will get ram raided, there will be illegal stills set up all over the show to rival the weed growing dens. People are not machines and every one of us is a free spirit programmed to roam and further our existance by any means possible. Apparently there were about 60 pubs and shops still open in my area that should have been shut down, I wonder if I can find one of the pubs.
Crikey! It has only been a few days so far of a partial lockdown and lots of you folk can’t cope? I unfortunately don’t have the necessary materials for some large jobs I could have been doing at my own home and I accept that and not going to bother companies and delivery drivers just at present. So I just will do whatever else I can. Mostly just wine in house, but glad I can manage without booze. My other half is living elsewhere and we are both keeping isolated, so got to do without her as well. It isn’t a war, we aren’t suddenly off work taken very ill, so things could be a lot worse for many of us.
Maybe SF should keep some of their better stocked/staffed trade counters open to bonafide trades people who have a plumb-electric fix account. But there again safety of the trade counter staff is important, scrap the above idea. off-licenses (specialist alcohol shops) can remain open, cheers Borisdorris
No, they have not made the decsion, they have been instructed to supply only essentials. Do you really think they would spend effort in modifying the website and reducing their product line and revenue voluntarily? Look at other retailers - was it Sports Direct that claimed to be "essential" before being told to close? Or a pet retail chain saying "dog groomers" are key workers? SF staff are having to work - some of them have children who need caring for as even registered child minders cannot take them. SF are being flexible, allowing staff to modify working hours so they can work and look after their children.
Looks like I am going to have the cleanest, tidiest house and garden in the area... with painted fences within the next 2 weeks. Most of what I need is in the garage and stuff is available on line anyway.
Funny how people view things. In M&S yesterday.........shelves stocked ok. people staying 2 m apart...moving around with common sense. respecting others personal spaces...hand sanitizers on way in and out. Gloves on some people. Boots....people lined up outside...huge store....and only TWO people allowed in at one time. TWO !!!!
Hi @Ade Burt We are aware of some issues with payments. This is in the process of being corrected. In the meantime, you could try an alternative method such as paypal or try again later Peter
