I turned off the stopcock for my hot water while I looked at a dripping tap.
Now when I turn it back on there's no water coming through.
Could it be stuck in the off position and how could I remedy it?
    Thanks D

It shouldn’t have a stopcock on hot water pipe (as rubber washer would eventually deteriorate), but you probably mean a red headed gate valve I guess?
Gate valves break and seize off and need replaced. Stopcocks sometimes have stuck washer.
Replace with full flow lever valve

Red headed gate valve is right!
    OK, thanks for your help.

Terrible valves on domestic water. The gate inside them seizes in off position and/or the threaded part of the spindle snaps off and the wheel head just spins.
Usually all you can do is replace valve.
Easiest way might be an identical replacement, but to ensure you have a reliable valve for future I would just change to a full flow lever valve. Easy 1/4 turn also an advantage.

When replacing the said valve , remember there is a tank of cold water the other side

    Great!
Thank you both for your advice.
I'll remember the cold water tank
