    Hey guys,

I would normally get an electrician in for any work, but seeing this is only two switches I think it may be embarassing to even ask one to come for a job like this and also, I'd kinda like to do it myself, but I am struggling with what is probably a simple job.

I'm really not sure what switches to buy from screwfix.

These are the ones I want to replace (pics attached) The reason is that when i switch the light switch on, the lights in the ensuite dont always come on, they may work fine for days then they suddenly stop working, then even with the light switch turned on, they will just turn themselves on about 30 seconds later.

The light switch is a regular light switch
The fan switch is a double pole switch.

You will find both types of switches in most ranges sold by SFX. Pick the style you like and find the switches in the catalogue or on line. Simples.

What type of lights do you have in your bathroom?

The two black insulated conductors that are together in one terminal , need attention.
Does your light run from a transformer ?

That's ok for your lights, now find one for the fan !! Look for
Double pole switch 20ax ,one gang. In the same finish and profile .

Those slim line switches sometimes don't sit too well on plastic drywall boxes. As the box itself protrudes from the wall a little. Doesn't bother some people but does to others.

Sorry ,but it's a fact. That type of switch is designed to sit flat and flush on the wall. It can't do that if a piece of white plastic is already there. Not just the brand your looking at , same applies across the board.

Walls need to be like glass I hate when a customer asks me to fit them

I hate it when the shallow galvy box which was fine with a plastic switch ,is now not deep enough to accommodate the
" flat plate "variety. Advising home owner that a deeper one has to be fitted ,and that will inevitably involve damage to plaster work doesn't usually go down too well !!

Yeah a nice shiny flat plate against a wall that's crumbled to bits
