FA Chairman resignation- Yet another strange case of alleged racism

No there was no racism there at all.

It was maybe 'casual racism'. But casual racism is still racism.

Maybe you just don't notice casual racism. Maybe because you're not affected by it, or so exposed to it that you're insensitive to it.

How come you supposedly notice it so much where others supposedly don't?

Or maybe I am less sensitive to it, I don't get offended as easily as you do, and I don't understand what all the fuss is about. I just casually ignore it, really. Doesn't affect me. Like I have posted before, I find you and your behaviour more of a problem.

    Suppose we reverse your question:
How come you don't notice it when others do?
Don't forget there were some high profile people that criticised his attitudes, language and behaviour.
    https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...ents-are-a-massive-problem-language-has-power
    https://www.si.com/soccer/2020/11/10/greg-clarke-fa-fifa-racist-comments

    https://edition.cnn.com/2020/11/10/football/greg-clarke-fa-chairman-apology-spt-intl/index.html

    etc.

So your question was predicated on an incorrect assumption. My version of the question has corrected that incorrect assumption of yours.

    See my comment above.

An old saying: "It's difficult to win an argument against a well-informed person, it's damned near impossible to win an argument against a stupid person."

Maybe the article in the BBC today will provide a glimmer of light:
Working from home could lead to more prejudice, report warns
    https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-54937713
The article very plausibly suggests that those who work in isolation retain their prejudices because they have little opportunity to correcting their own misconceptions about others.
Maybe the same reasoning applies to self-employed people who have little opportunity to work alongside, with and among others of different ethnicity, gender, religion or culture.

In your assessment of Gregg Clarke and his comments, do you also fail to see his bigoted attitude towards gay people and women players?
Or is it just his racist comments that you fail to observe?

    @Bobby Dazzler

Please do us all a favour and go away from here. You found racist posts on another forum, proceeded to go on (and on, and on and on) on another forum where there has been a small handful of problems over the years, that have been quickly stamped on.

THERE IS NO INHERENT PROBLEM ON THIS FORUM. The only person who thinks there is is you.

So once again please go back to your copy of The Guardian and leave everyone here to get on with their lives without you hectoring and lecturing us.

    You are once again ignored.

I see he must be still at it, I have him on ignore.

I think Jord86 possibly got this right when he mentioned Aspergers. I have no issue with this, or his seeming obsession with racism, there are worse things to obsess about. What got him put on ignore for me, was his outright lying about the content of my posts and, incredibly, saying I was disagreeing with him when I was actually agreeing with him! As I said in one of my previous posts I have little doubt that my direct experience, and my family's, of racism and its effects trump his; I found his comments about my supposed thinking offensive.

In my last job we had a unit specialising in supporting pupils on the Aspergers\Autism spectrum and the traits he exhibits are very similar including his seeming inability to interpret written information or ideas correctly. I quote from a general description which puts it pretty succinctly:

"They misinterpret the experiences, feelings and ideas of others, and therefore come to the wrong conclusions."

It is a pity that the forum admins doesn't pick up on people who cause such trouble but then I suppose they may be terrified of confirming his false claims of racism in the forum.

I can only recommend what was recommended to me by another long term member, put him on ignore.

Would they have been stamped on if no-one had objected to them? There are still persistent incidences that are not only allowed, but the moderators delete any criticism of such posts. If you think that is fair and equitable, then maybe you fail to see the harm in those posts.
    A couple of examples:
    Oh, he said jigaboo!
Hang on. The automatic censor didn't block it. It must be acceptable (for now).
Jigaboo, jigaboo, jigaboo, jigaboo, jigaboo, jigaboo, jigaboo.

Or phone the law and say you thought you heard someone being called a jigaboo. Ten squad cars will arrive in minutes and close the place. :ROFLMAO:

It seemed to me that it was accepted before my interventions. And it is still accepted, but maybe less so. Perhaps even DIYnot are becoming better informed. Certainly, recently there are some there who do object to the racism, but by and large it is acceptable.

Even a handful of incidences is one too many. Noticeably it was a handful of persistent, repeated, continuous and severe problems by a small minority of posters.

I didn't start this thread. I gave my opinion that I thought Gregg Clarke was outdated, inherently bigoted, and severely ill-suited for the modern day role, representing an organisation whose stated policy is to rid the game of racism, sexism and homophobia. It was a pity that their chairman was not up to the task.

When there are a small group of posters who repeatedly object and deride anyone who dares to address the issue, maybe there is a problem with those few posters?

Clearly you display your abject horror at anyone who dares to address the problem of racism.
Do you have similar concerns with sexism, homophobia, etc?
Or is just the discussion of racism that you fear so much?

Sadly some feel the need to attack the person rather than discuss the issue.
Do, by all means, persist with your head-in-the-sand approach.

The crux of our disagreement was that you stated:
"that "coloured" was used instead of "black" within living memory because describing someone as "black" was considered rude." (Post number 15 in this thread)
without qualifying which section of society found 'coloured' acceptable.
I argued that the term 'coloured' was acceptable only to white people, and only because it was a more polite word than other terms in use. I also pointed out that you failed to qualify your comment, about which section of society found 'coloured' acceptable.
Since then, you have persistently argued that you are right, and I am wrong. The difference is that I have presented articles and references to support my opinion, while you have merely restated, time and time again, your opinion, accompanied by derogatory comments.

And still you continue in the same vein.

Its impossible to win an argument with Bobby Dazzler. I'll take my well informed opinions elsewhere.

I think i have read enough of Bobby Dazzler's posts in the short amount of time he has been on this forum to come to much the same opinion. All i can hope is that at some point he goes over the point that will get a MOD's attention enough that his profile will just be deleted.
At least then his inane drivel won't have to be enjored by anyone that happens to read one of his posts.

I didn't assume anything you sly little troll, you cast aspersions against all and sundry but aren't prepared to give any hint as to why you see these supposed racial issues that two forums worth of contributors don't think worth bothering about, with several people on here who have experienced some form of racism or prejudice themselves over the years and even they think you are ludicrous.

Your question was predicated on the assumption that no-one else noticed the racism in Gregg Clarke's comments.
I proved to you that the world and his wife did notice the racism in his comments. Only you and a few other posters on here refused to acknowledge it.
    Ask yourself why that is.
Additionally, you feel the need to resort to abuse and insult to support your argument.
I notice that no-one is bothering to defend Gregg Clarke's sexist and homophobic comments, just his racist attitude.
    Ask yourself why that is.

You're resorting to the ludicrous in a silly attempt to prove your point, "you cast aspersions against all and sundry". That alone indicates how fallible is your argument.

How easy it is to claim things on an anonymous social media site!

You might think that objecting to bigotry is inane drivel.
In the meantime, anyone daring to object to bigotry has to enjore (sic) insults and abuse.
    Ask yourself why that is.

    Why is what?

What have you just asked? I've just looked back through the last seven posts of yours to find a question. The last question you asked was "Can it be inferred from your sanctimonious rants that you are a person of colour?"
    I responded to that question.

    Tell you what?

You make a completely unintelligible comment about you asking a question, (which I couldn't find):
"Why is that? I've just asked. What's the answer. Do tell."
I ask you to elucidate, and you respond with another unrelated comment.
Could you try and keep to the issues being discussed?

But I am very comfortable with people who insist on denying, defending or even ignoring racism, experiencing a little discomfort.

To the extent that you find it necessary to start a thread denying an incident of racism, with your opening comment:
Or are you now accepting that it was a case of racism, which you prefer to casually ignore?
