Hi, Hoping someone can help me. I’m looking to replace my 2x Danfoss thermostats (hallway/bedroom) with Hive. I have an understanding of how it all works and what needs to be done. I’ve watched loads of videos and read lots online but can’t quite apply the advice to my setup, also it’s not something I want to just guess. Here is a list of equipment and some pictures which will hopefully makes things a little clearer: Logic Combi Boiler ES35 2x Danfoss thermostats (Black & Grey wire behind both) 2x Danfoss zonal heating valves into a wiring box upstairs In terms of Hive: 1x Active heating with hub, thermostat, receiver 1x Active heating multizone with hub and receiver. and some 5 core cable I believe I need to wire the hive receivers. I know I need to provide power to both receivers via the LNE and that I replace the black and grey wires with the hive wiring. I would just like some clarity on what goes where? if I can provide any further information please let me know cheers Steve
Fit the receiver above the valves. Then it’s just a 5 core in to the wiring centre. LNE. Then your 2 hive ON terminals will go to 8&9 in the wiring centre. Remove the old stat wires.
For the avoidance of doubt. I have wired the two receivers like this (I’ll trim them down before actually installing) is this right? That leaves me with: Blue (N) for each receiver going to 10 Green &Yel (E) for each receiver going to 7 Brown (L) for each receiver go to 12 Then black and grey from receiver 1 into 8 and black and grey from receiver 2 into 9. Removing the black and brown from 8 and then 9 as they are the old thermostat wires. Is that all correct? Does it matter which receiver goes into 8 or 9? Imagine I may need to figure out which is upstairs or downstairs? I may be completely wrong on all of this but no damage done yet!! Thanks for your help
The 2 grey wires go in to 8&9. You don’t need the black wire. You fit a piece of wire between live and 1 on both hives. Or alternatively you could use the black wires but they would go in to 12. This method is a bit pointless.
aside from not needing the black wire and the two greys into 8&9. Everything else is correct? Thanks once again for your help much appreciated
Your 2 old stats brown and blacks will be in terminals 8,9 and 12. These can be removed. If in doubt take pictures and notes before removing wires so you can undo what you’ve done.
Ok so after removing the old stats black and brown wires that would leave 8&9 empty and just a grey wire in 12. then I just replace with as per instructions above for Hive and we can all go about Our lives as normal
Remove the 2 browns from 12. This will leave a grey wire. This grey wire can be used to supply live to both hives. Remove only the blacks from 8&9. The browns remain in 8&9. Your grey wires from hive terminal 3 then go in to 8&9 (put in in 8 and the other in 9).
I’ve worked my way through everything that has been said and mocked it up on Excel. I’m hoping this is the winner and your patience doesn’t wear thin... appreciate your help
No sign of life in either receiver. I have disconnected the wires from both wall mounted stats. removed 3 x brown wires from 12 leaving 2 x grey removed black from 8&9 then added brown and black from each hive to 12 Blue from each to 7 Grey 8 hive 1 Grey 9 hive 2 earth from each to 7. no bangs and still in one piece so not a complete disaster
How many wires went in to 12. All the wires you’ve put in are correct. You should only have removed 2 wires that fed the old stats. This should have left 1 wire. Your simply missing a 230v power supply.
So you removed 3 brown wires from 12. 2 of those are the old stats. This should be easily identified as it will share the cable with the removed blacks and the greys that were never used. The remaining brown is your power supply.
Yeah there were 3 I suspected one was the power supply. once I’ve figured out which one is the power supply I assume it just goes back into 12
