Budget kitchen refurb

Whilst not exactly hideous, our kitchen was looking a bit tired and dated.
For a pleasant change, we came in well under our 1K budget so much so it enabled the purchase of a new washing machine.

The kitchen is what estate agents like to call compact i.e … small…. And tricky to take pics without a wide-angle lens. The general layout works well so no change there.

The first task was tile removal, wasnt looking forward to this but after whacking an
    old wood chisel down here...

Turned out to be easiest tile removal ever

the whole lot was removed in around two hours

    so what's to be done?
    New worktops
    New wall tiles
    New floor tiles
    Install hob extractor
    Paint walls
    Paint cupboard doors/sides and surroundings
    Renew window blind
    Renew all sockets and switches.
    fit under cabinet LED lighting

All materials (and a "drink" for the Brother in-laws help) came in well under our budget which enabled the purchase of a new washer... which hadnt been on the original shopping list.

Looks great. That’s a quality finish! Did you mitre the worktop yourself?

Thanks. I didn’t mitre ... it’d have ended up like the Grand Canyon if I had

Despite the kitchen being around 10 years old, the "shaker" style units are still quite contemporary. I decided to fit new handles and paint them with B and Q's V33 cupboard and cabinet paint. This is where the fun began  the door faces are finished in some kind of wrap and to cut a long story short, after lots of preparation took 4 coats to cover
the sides and frames were easier as these are melamine.

Fantastic job, you've paid a lot attention to the detail it seems, and it shows!

Inspired me to give my kitchen units a repaint too now (until we scrap them all and do a kitchen extension next year)

Thanks fellas. Yes, attention to detail has been on point. I guess that’s the advantage of no real need to get it finished as quick as possible. Work was carried out over a few weeks. Tho cupboard doors were the biggest ball ache with multi rub downs outdoors between coats of paint... and rain. Not a job you can rush. Also helped being in the right frame of mind to do the work... unlike the recent bedroom painting carried out

Firstly, let me say that you’ve done a cracking job of this kitchen renovation. The attention to detail and colour scheme is awesome.

Can I ask, did you pain inside the cupboards? And if not, where did you stop the paint line if you know what I mean (if you have any pics it would really help me on the same project I’m about to start!).

Thanks Chris, it’s holding up well :) no I didn’t paint inside the cupboards.
As to paint line, I’ll try and get some pics up later to better demonstrate....frog tape came in handy
