I know this is a basic thermstat but in still confused a to how to connect this to my boiler, at present my combi has a black link wire where the thermostat should be, now the wiring diagram for the combi doesn't say what connector is for what wire, its just a link that says thermstat. So how do I figure out which wire should go where? Combo is a volkera 36he
What wiring do you have to your room stat? The T6360 is designed to work on 240 volts with an anticipator fed back through a neutral. Your Combi may only be switching 24 volts. If your stat has three wires, then identify the switch wires back to the boiler and just connect those. You will find that the operation is sluggish and you may need to install a dedicated 2 wire stat. Do not be tempted with a Drayton RTS 1 which is described as a 2 or 3 wire stat. Much better to find an electronic stat that is battery powered.
If your combi is a unica or linea they switch 240v. You could fit a battery powered programmable room stat. This will be simple to fit and give better control.
There are several version of the 36HE combi boiler. Which one do you have? It will say on the user or installation manual. The Gas Council (GC) number will also tell us.
The Unica 36HE appears to require a volt-free thermostat (see page 27 of Installation Manual). So the Honeywell T6360B would not be suitable as it is intended for use with 240Vac. They may be able advise how you can use the T6360B. However. you could confirm this by contacting Vokera Technical Support on 0870 333 0520 (taken from the online Installation manual)
Look again at fig 39. You willl see that the only 240v connections betwwen M3 and M4 are for the clock motor (M). The other terminals on fig 39 are volt free - see para 8.2 (Single-channel, voltage-free time clocks (fig. 39)). If these terminals are volt free in fig 39, they can't suddenly become 240V terminals in fig 40. Compare figs 39 and 40, the only difference is the use of the 2nd connector from the left as an intermediate connection point for the room thermostat, which must be volt-free. Now "volt-free" just means that there is no automatic conncection to a 240Vac supply, it does not mean that a thermostat requiring 240Vac canot be used, which is why I recommend seeking the advice of Vokera. In addition, the Live and Switched live terminals are not labelled, so there is no way of knowing (apart from trial and error) which terminal should be linked to the L terminal on block M3. The reference to a 230Vac room thermostat in para 7.12 as confusing as there is no mention of such a thermostat in Section 8.
good to see im not the only 1 confused however, i do know have some pics of the pcbs (boiler was isolated etc) so this is the only link wire i can find this looks like the M5, all 4 wires, 2 black, blue and brown go to the mechanical timer, there is no link here this is just another diagram but on the onside of the boiler cover so it looks like the link has been removed to fit the timer?
The second pic is obviously terminal block M5. But I am unable to idnttify the first pic, with three terminals and two black wires. To which terminals do the two black wires, in your fingers, connect? Yes, he link will have been removed to connect the timer. The question is: are these terminals 240Vac or just a low-voltage switch? Only Vokera can answer that question.
the 2 black wires in my hand go to x9 and that link appears to be for under floor heating etc and appears to be 24v here are some more pics none probably help though lol
