    Hi hope someone can help.

We are getting a 32amp hot tub but need, to get a fees to my garage anx then run power from a new fuse board from the garage to the hot tub. Now our main fuse board is full so can you use Henley blocks from my main meter and split and run 10mm armoured around, the outside of our house into the garage, and into a new fuse board. Does this sound right and what sort of fuse board would i need for the garage. It will only be running the hot tub.

Hope this makes sence and hope can be answered.

    Regards

    Pat

You would split with Henleys, then to a switchfuse to protect the SWA, SWA to a board in the garage with RCD, hot tub on that board. You would also need to consider the earth arrangement, whether to export from the house or use an electrode.

This is well outside the scope of DIY, but you could save money by agreeing with an electrician some aspects you could do, like running the cables etc.

You are best finding a good local spark, getting them to come and advise and go from there

I would assume from what you have said, the hot tube is outside, so the big question is supply type, TN-S, TN-C-S or TT, if TT no real problem, but with TN-C-S really needs making into TT.

Really should be one point of isolation for everything, so DNO, Isolator, Henley block, then consumer units. This may required drawing of the DNO fuse, and other problems.

    So
    advise is good advice.

Hi Tony thanks for your help.

Can i ask what size armoured cable 10mm or 6mm and can you point me in the direction of what sort of fuse box i would need please. Im assuming if using 3 core i and tap into the house earth.

    Regards

    @patslight with respect.

these three things must never meet.
    Electricity
    Water
    Human bodies

A hot tub brings them all together in one potentially dangerous combination. Supplying electricity to a hot tub need skill.
Supplying a new circuit is notifiable to the local authority and certifying to BS7671.

None of what you are thinking of doing is a DIY activity. For your safety, and that of your friends and family, You need a registered, competent electrician.

There is a lot more too it, cable size is determined by current needed to be drawn and length of run, you may well not be able to use the house earth, you may need a TT electrode.

Not to mention the need to test the Earth Loop to make sure it will actually do what it has to in fault conditions, test the RCD etc, all of which needs specialist test gear.

Bazza's link is a good place to start
