Is this clean enough to silicone?

Im replacing some sealant around a sink. I’ve used WD40 and elbow grease to get it as clear as I could. Still some silicone remains in gaps which I can’t reach. Please see photos below. Am I ok to just silicone over the top of that? Or do I absolutely need to remove all traces? Also on a side note, is Methelayted spirits ok to use to remove traces of WD40? I understand it can cause the silicone to lift if not completely removed. Thanks in advance

  2. That tiny bit of silicone will be fine to go over, as for the spirits and wd40, I can’t help Sorry

Meths is ok, although isopropyl alcohol is probably better.

Meths is fine to use to get rid of the wd40 residue... Just then give it good wipe with water after, dry thoroughly and your good to go

In future I would buy the right stuff - silicon sealant remover. Thing is that if you have any trace of WD40 left then it will certainly ruin your new application of silicon.
