    Hi,

Am currently fitting some new drive gates, using double strap hinges (similar to a farm gate). These were ordered in two orders from the same company who helpfully sent them slightly different.

The spacing between the end of the gate and the pin hole is 1.5cm shorter on one set. This wasn't noticed till all were fitted, and helpfully they were mixed on each gate

I can make up the 1.5cm as the pin is on an adjustable plate, but then the pivot points will be effectively offset by 1.5cm. Does anyone have experience of whether this will create lift as the gate moves back?

    Thanks,

if the pivots are not in the vertical plane parallel and perpendicular to the gate it will lift. not a problem for manual gates as it helps them close but will be an issue for automatic opening

Thanks for the reply. Damn it, going to have to swap two over so each leaf has the same then. Just hope the holes line up. I drilled at angles from each side slightly so that the bolts were under tension to try and help prevent the gates sagging, so going to be fun hammering the coach bolts out the other way!
