Hi I’m in college at the minute and was looking for some advice, I’ve been asked to run a 10mm swa from main cu in house to a new consumer unit in the garage and will have a 32amp hot tub and some lighting and outside socket fed from garage cu. the earthing system is a tt and the main cu is fed from a 63a rcd upfront. There is a spare way in the board so I was wondering if it is ok to run the 10mm swa off a 50amp breaker in main cu to the garage with a main switch upfront and Mcbs for the circuits?

All sounds ok but as it will be a 'new circuit' bear in mind that it will be notifiable to B. Control.

great thanks, could this mean I carry out the work and get someone to sign off?

You might have difficulty finding someone to sign it off as officially only the person installing it can sign it off.

Your first post mentions a 50A breaker, here you mention a 45A fuse.

Are you working on a mix of old and new boards?
