    Screw lengths of 4 x 2 across the joist to the left and the joist to the right (and the one you need to remove) then you can cut a section away no worries.

    I'm looking for a supplier of laminated MDF - I've seen some nice stuff which is 18mm MDF with a laminate of ash or beech, it looks great, but I'm having problems sourcing it - can anyone help.

    Laying my hardwood floor

    I want to lay a hardwood floor, using 18mm oak boards, T&G, end matched, etc, etc. Should I start in the middle of the room and work outwards, or at the side and work across? Hope you can help guys.

    Cure for floor with rising damp?

    Brian - whats the outside painted with, if its a modern plastic paint the damp will be sealed in, it needs a breathable paint eg limewash. And if you feel like wasting your money go for the injected dampcourse. How thick are those walls? They are probably rubble-filled and you'll never seal them...

    External rendering

    Hi, I want to render the back of my house. Part of the wall is painted brick and I want to make sure that the render holds OK. One suggestion I have had is to fix expanded metal lathing over the area, which sounds like a good idea, but do I have any other alternatives? Cheers!

    Brick cleaner - Jewsons sell it, probably everyone does, would probably do it, it probably wont affect your tarmac but I would try a test area first!
