    Hi chippies!

I'm making some timber replacement windows, I'm going to get them signed off by building control so they have to be up to building regs standard. So, apart from trickle vents and good seals around the (top hung) sashes, anyone got any info/advice?

I'm using redwood timber, 24mm Pilkington K, toughened glass.

    Cheers

    Hi,

I'm guessing your making conventional or stormproof?

On both, you need to make sure the casements have a drip groove all the way around. Also a drip groove needed on bottom of window sill. Drip mould also on bottom of transoms on conventional windows.

Not sure if these are to building regs. But I'm guessing they could be.

    I'm making stormproof.

I've got a drip groove on both sides of the casements, both sides of the sashes (which I'm also using as the rebate for the friction hinges) and on the transoms of the sashes. I've not got one on the heads of the casements, but was intending having one on a plant on drip moulding above the windows.

    Thanks for your reply.
