Looking this model up online suggests this is a common problem, people have returned them to Makita to sort out only to be advised there is nothing wrong with them.
It were right as rain the next time I used it. Especially when I put a new 16T blade in. I actually prefer less teeth. It's not too rough a cut on mdf and it just feels easier and faster.
