Installed Ideal Standard 'White' range dual flush close coupled WC suite a couple of months ago but it always takes a couple of 6 litre flushes to remove all solids. Apart from eating less, is there a solution??
That's the problem the designers of these mini-flush WCs don't seem to have taken into account! What's the point of an environmentally-friendly 6L flush if you need 12L to get it to work! You and the environment would be better off with a 7-8L flush! Only thing to check would be that WC inlet valve is adjusted to let in max amount of water without water going out of overflow. That should be in the instructions booklet.
If there is 6ltr on every flush this should move all solids unless you sh+t bricks sounds like outlet is running upwards unless delivery rate is carp
asuming is a flapper type valve, make sure the valve is lifting enough, this is another adjustable movement that the instuctions attempt to explain in a chinese fashion.
It will not be a flapper, more likely the "dump" type (ha ha). Make sure it IS dumping 6 litres. If so call IS and tell them to send an engineer out, otherwise you'll send some samples for them to test on their own toilets.
I have one too and same problem - it is the shape of the pan that is at fault. Mine is connected to a Sanuflo - nightamre - gone wrong three times since 2005. Now changing back to ordinary close coupled
The W.C. manu.were supposed to be altering the shape of bowl discharge to take account of the low rate 6Lt. flush that was as far back 1990s seen no difference. Fitted a Saniflo in 2000 no problems apart from my wee grand daughter putting a babywipe down the loo, disconnected bowl cleared wipe out and working perfectly again, maybe just lucky, as long as certain items are not put down loo everything should be O.K.
Was there ever a survey of which 6L flushes work the best in terms of flushing? Seems to be quite a common problem!
The main thing to remember with toilets is that nothing should go through them that has not gone through you, this would cure most problems.
So that's a problem for toilet paper! Maybe people with a 6L flush should dispose of their toilet paper via a rubbish bin by the WC, as in Turkey!
There is not sufficient head of water for flush as there used to be with high or low level flush cisterns CC are notorious for having to double flush.
...well, Big Jules, looks like the Ideal Standard White WC with 6litre flush you bought has a design fault (insufficient flushing performance, unable to cope with solid waste) - if it's less than 12 months old, get IS to replace it as a product unfit for purpose - copy your local trading standards, watchdog, etc on your letter. If people put up with poorly designed products unfit for purpose, that's what we'll get! Major manufacturers like Ideal Standard should do proper R&D on new developments like mini WC cisterns and if they don't invest in robust research, they risk paying the costs! Don't put up with it!
