Hi,have to ceramic tile on an internal wall which has a sand cement render which has been float finsished in sharp sand BUT also painted. The surface does feel rough still but I am concerned if further preperation will be needed. This wall will form one side of a shower enclosure,ie do I need to take an angle grinder to the surface.
    Thanks

just coat the painted render with a latex based primer or even PVA and allow to dry before tiling.

    NOT PVA!

Scratch thru the paint to expose the render to give a good key.

Do not use PVA. remove as much paint as possible and use a BAL tile primer.

  5. As already but cant be mentioned too much . . . NO PVA.

  6. As already SAID that should say.
