That is the question. I have fitted jc fireguard plus lights in my kitchen, currently available in sf. Can I insulate straight over them or do I need to fit a hood or similar? Thanks
Only if they are LED lamps like these? target="_blank http://www.rselectricalsupplies.co.uk/home-lighting-supplies/downlights/jcc-led-downlight-fireguard-led7-mains-ip65-7w-warm-white-chrome-jc94174ch/?utm_nooveride=1&gclid=CLqI5Iz87bQCFWbKtAodS2MAlg
Thanks for the reply. The ones I have are these http://www.screwfix.com/p/jcc-fireguard-plus-fixed-fire-rated-led-downlight-brushed-nickel-5w-240v/56547
As its an integrated LED lamp the heat generated is very low so I would say yes you can put insulation over them. I have handled their JCC 7 integrated LEDs after they have been on for an hour and they are barely warm.
Whilst for some low power/low heat LEDs it may not be a fire hazard to insulate over them, it may significantly reduce the lifespan of the lamp as it can't disapate its own heat.
Good point^^^^ and unphased, would they be a lot warmer if they had been buried in insulation ? Mr. HandyAndy - Really
