Can I plug my extractor hood into the mains?

    Hello

New ikea (whirlpool) extractor hood came with 5 amp moulded plug, and a label telling me to plug it in whilst adhering to BS1363.

However I looked at the instructions and they saw it must be wired into a 5A FCU.

Phoned Ikea and they don't know. Trying Whirlpool next but in the meantime what's the pro opinion?

I would have thought the latter option.

    Cheers

do you mean a 13A plug with a 5A fuse

Yes, you can simply plug the 13A Moulded Plug into a socket. Ensure that the Plug has a 5A HRC Fuse fitted.

I haven't looked at the detail for some time but BS1363 relates to HRC (High Rupture Capacity) Fuses. These fuses are designed so that they can withstand very high transient current as the fuse blows without exploding.
