Marcrist DDM2 with a good set of core bits. Benifits of the DDM2 is you can drill up to a 200mm hole wet or dry.

like hortdorg said, I also go 4the sparky.  Buy cheap and bin when it packs up, SIMPLES.

Their sds drills are no better.

If you only have the odd hole to core-110mm or over, then hire, will be cheaper.

Save your money & buy some thing decent,Bosch GBH 3-28DFR around £275 or less, several offers available with extra's, will handle a 82mm core in masonry, so will easily core a hole for 50mm waste pipe.

Dewalt silver bullet is designed as a core drill, hences it's ability to use up to a 127mm core in brick or soft masonry.

    Nice it's a 16mm chuck but, a shame it's a keyed version.

for a cheap core drill the makitas are good, i brought a dewalt and sold it after a few holes as it was pants, few years ago mind.

I don't like Dewalt, & never would buy anything Dewalt, it's Bosch, Makita, or some other reputable brand.

When you bought cheep all those years ago,way back in the last century:rolleyes:,they were made to last, not like today's cheep tack.

Got a cheap unknown brand drill here, must be nearly 37 years old & it's still going.

Cheap drills are ok(same as seen in above video) but wouldn’t recommend them for core cutting, after using one where the core got snagged - the side handle snapped and almost broke my wrist!

Done several holes with the Dewalt & can't fault it, shame its not sds (but our Makita was also a keyed chuck).

If it has a 1/2" unf thread, then you can get a sds chuck.:)

Thanks Kiab, may just do that! use a sds paddle mixer for knocking up plaster, this drill would be ideal for that too.
