Recently had to remove plaster to 1metre above floor level and have walls injected. Plasterer then replastered using sand/cement then skimming. Problem is he was told not to plaster below injection holes. This has meant that in some places brickwork is exposed to around 6 - 7 inches above floor level. My question then is how to fix skirting when there is only sometimes 1" of plaster to fix it towith recessed brickwork below. Is there such a thing as waterproof adhesive that I could use - maybe something similar to plasterboard adhesive. I was going to use a masonry nailer but this would mean the skirting would not attach vertically. HELP!!!
I seem to be recommending this a lot on here (I'll be gettinga reputation)..... use instastick expanding foam adhesive. You can apply it as thick as you need to and it will expand and dry firm filling and holding your skirts perfectly. http://www.screwfix.com/p/dow-insta-stik-expanding-foam-grab-adhesive-hand-held-750ml/57578 This link is to the aerosol version. There is also a gun version http://www.screwfix.com/p/dow-insta-stik-expanding-foam-grab-adhesive-gun-grade-750ml/72793 which needs http://www.screwfix.com/p/no-nonsense-foam-applicator-gun/28483 (there are other/better guns elsewhere) and http://www.screwfix.com/p/no-nonsense-foam-gun-cleaner-500ml/60133 The gun version is MUCH easier to control and a good investment if you have a bit to do. It's very sticky stuff and is fairly horrible if you get it on your hands - goes black. Or you could do it the old fashioned way by hammering in wooden wedges between bricks and fixing to these. (but the foam is easier )
May thanks for that - I'm guessing as it's foam based it won't allow moisture to bridge the damp coarse
