Is it ok to re-putty windows when the weather is damp/ wet? Does this affect the drying time for painting? Many thanks in anticipation!

Yes, as long as the frame is dry and pre primed, linseed oil putty will require at least 5 to 7 days to skin over prior to painting, you must prime the frame as the bare wood will suck out the oil into the frame and prematurely lead to the putty to fail.

I would recommend Top Gun Glazing Putty,
Acrylic based and when dry paint away.

You do require a caulking gun

I have found that after a short time when the gun applied acrylic putty's cures and dry's out they do shrink back looking awful, reminds me of someone who has taken out there false teeth!:p:D

Had excessive shrinkage with that brand also...............cost is no guarantee! Looked good when initially done, even use the correct tools as recommended by repair care.:(

    Astra,

Not encountered that problem, I did follow up with water based paint!

Was it Top Gun by geocel and did you use oil paint after?

Two times the repair-care and some years ago another brand who's name escapes me, to be honest I steer clear of acrylic putty.

    Astra,

    Fair enough.

Please to say not encountered that problem with Top Gun.

Can’t remember the last time I used traditional putty, do miss the aroma tho

I'll look out for the Top Gun and try it out.
