I have just bought a box of 4.2 x 45mm Floor Tite Screws. I assume they are PZ? Which size of screw bit should be used? Thank you.
They would more than likely be pozi screw heads PZ2 bit. Edit* Yes they are PZ2 heads so a PZ2 screw bit needed.
Warm greetings. I am progressing nicely silencing my floorboards. One thing I noticed was a noise from the toilet! Not that one! I screwed down all the boards in the loo, and outside the loo too. Their are 3 joists coming out from the toilet. Sometimes when you stand on the floor, outside the door, you hear a creak from the toilet area, 6 feet away. I assume it is because the joists run that way? Everything seems tight so I am not sure how to remedy this? When you step on the floor you hear the clunk, but if you step on it again, immediately, there is no noise at all? It needs time to reset!
Is it possibly a stud wall and floor moving independently of each other? It has been raised as an issue on here before and I have come across it as well on a job. The floor flexes but the wall doesn't and it pulls on the nails which have been used to secure it to the floor.
Assuming the joists are bouncing individually - what is the best way to brace/bridge them. Are there metal pre-drilled strips, or is 4 by 2 wood better? All advice greatly received. I suppose pre-drilled would suit me best, as long as it is stiff/strong enough to stop individual joists bouncing?
