I have just bought a new range type cooker which has a gas hob running on bottled butane. Having changed the jets and made the adjustments as per the instructions, one of the rings has a small flame and makes a rushing sound. I have checked the jet for blockage. The diagram below shows the apparatus behind the knob. I suspect it may be the gas/air mixture but I don't know how to change it.
Hi It maybe propane not butane, different jets ? Careful you don’t blow your self up. ! The gas is heaver than air, and will pool around ground level, and possibly envelope you in fire. ! Not joking either Regards Peter
As kiaora said, are you sure it is butane not propane that you are using or should be using? Propane is C3H8 and burns hotter than butane which is C4H10. Propane often comes in red cylinders (maybe green if they have the Patio connector) and butane often comes in blue cylinders.
The injectors will be the same for both fuels, the operating pressures are different. Check the rings are sitting properly in the burner.
