Hi folks, Looking for the opinion of a plumber. We had a tank replaced in a property in London (at a cost of £1500!). Here are the before and after shots. I was surprised to see plastic fittings and the pipe routed in front of the shelves. There is also no drain (not sure if was one before, but would it be normal to fit one?) Is this shoddy work, or am I overreacting? Anything else stand out as good or bad? Many thanks. Before: After:
That section of plastic pipe gives the impression that a mistake was made. Also the 15mm copper pipe with the push fit cap is bad. No pipes look clipped. The pump could have been moved to one side to accommodate this. More pictures with that shelving removed will help people judge better. It certainly needs a drain.
Awful. Plastic push fits are for plastic pipe or at the junction of copper to plastic. The way they are used there demonstrates a total lack of care and capability So, you are saying HE PAID YOU £1500 to have that installed
The pipe in front of the shelves has been capped off anyway so clearly not in use Can’t see where it originates from but possibly now forming a long dead leg full of manky water Wether a plastic stop end is considered as temporary or permanent is another question but irrelevant anyway as pipe shouldn’t be left like this. For £1,500.00 the ‘plumber’ surely could have removed it ?
To think that everything in that clutter could have been eliminated by a simple combi boiler on a mains pressurised system ... no hot water cylinder needed, no header tank needed, no shower pump needed, no perpetual heat loss from 100 litres of hot water just sitting there waiting to be used once or maybe twice a day. I could go on, but I'm sure you get the gist. Ask yourself why you didn't talk to a real plumber.
Not a good job. Not sure on parts cost but it has to be over £1000 profit for a day's 'work.' However he's done the job, and presumably it works, so not much you can do.
