Can anyone suggest a tool for reducing raised splits in the planks of a wooden building without too much damage to the surrounding paintwork please. The splits are only 1.5 inches across the planks (not along) and raised by less than 1/4 inch on one side of the plank like a twist. Knuckles prevent using a file. Takes forever with small sanding block. Perhaps an angle grinder of some kind?
I would hit it with a belt sander, I suspect it will open up again though as the knot dries out over time, a brown paintable frame sealer which has a bit of flex might be best.
