I'm hoping someone has knowledge of smoke alarm building regs as I'm stuck in a nightmare between my builder and the Building Regs Officer. I've had a loft conversion in a standard terrace house and now that I have 3 floors the regs officer says I need 'Mains Wired' smokes on each floor hallway and in every bedroom and every other room apart from kitchen and bathroom. It's a small house and the mains wired smoke alarm on the 1st floor landing is directly adjacent to the bedroom doors and the builder is adamant this meets regulations. Anyone know exactly what the rules are?
Thank you Starslikedust for the link. It confirms that we don’t need wired SD’s in each bedroom as all bedrooms are within 3.5m of the landing wired SD. I’m forwarding the link to the Building Regs Officer
