    Guys,
Need a socket on feature wall behind the tv so i wanted to spur of the closet socket to that wall.

However that socket already been spured, has 2 lots of cable going in each terminal.
Can I add another cable and spur of it please or will it cause issues?

Sorry if this question been asked before or sounds daft.

Are you sure it's already been spured?

Is the circuit a ring or radial?

What size fuse is protecting the circuit?

I opened the socket and it had 2 lots of cables each going into terminals.
I thought that mean been spured?
It's on my downstairs socket ring.
Not sure what size fuse without going up to fuse box and having a look.

No that's probably just a socket on the ring you can just spur from it.
To check turn the power off and test continuity between the 2 lives, neutrals and earths if there's continuity it's probably part of the ring if that's the case you can take a spur from it.

Or better still can just wire a new socket without chasing any wires and test if it works?

No point doing that you know it will work but it might not be right.

I've done a continuety test and there and showed 0.00 on multi reader so I'm guessing there is.
So I'm good to spur off it then?
Next question is that's a 25mm back box.
When I spur of it, will the back box be deep enough?
So I'm spuring of this current one.
Then the new socket I get, I'm gonna spur another double one off that too.

    Will that be OK?

Yes you can get 3 into a 25mm deep box and yes you can spur to a double using 2.5mm twin and earth.

What about spurring of the new socket I make... For another double socket?

No you can only spur once.
If you want 2 sockets you can either extend the ring or fit a fused spur.

So from the new socket I spur.
I can't spur of that unless it's fused?

    You need to go......

    Existing socket.....spur......new socket 1......new socket 2.

This will limit you to 13 amps on the 2 new sockets.

    Make sense?

If the circuit is on a 16 amp or 20 amp fuse you won't need a fused spur, best to check that first.

Also the additions will need RCD protection.

    One more question...
Can I chase the wiring horizontal then vertical like a step for me to get to middle of media wal?

The cable must be run horizontally or vertically to/from a socket position.
so horizontally from your existing socket, turn 90 degrees then vertically to new socket complies.

Screw fix do the LAP grid range where a double socket face plate (4 module) can have a socket, switch and fuse holder so a double socket becomes a single socket and fused connection unit. upload_2022-6-12_9-27-40.png I did this years ago to add extra sockets.

    It’s not a spur.
A spur would only have 1 set of cables.

This is how I'm gonna chase into wall for the new socket.
    That OK?

As long as the new socket is visible at the end of the red line that's ok. (assuming that you've made certain that it's not a spur otherwise you need an FCU before both sockets)
