I’m installing some lights in my shed and garage. Total wattage of lights is 310 to 350 watts. I need a double light switch. I need to know what wattage light switch would I need so that I don’t overload the light switch. I’ve looked on Screwfix and Toolstation and the only info they show is 230v power voltage supply. I’m finding this confusing. Please help.
Most light circuits are limited to 6 amp, and I have never seen a light switch rated less than 6 amp. That's 1380 watts. So can't see any switch from Screwfix or Toolstation not being rated high enough.
Is this the switch you are referring to? MK logic plus 10AX 2-Gang 2-way light switch (16201) Then yes
For future reference op Power (watts) ÷ Voltage (volts-uk is 230v) =Current(amps) So, 310/230=1.35 amps, way under a 6 or 10 amp max switch capacity.
