im rewiring a house where the plasterer has mixed the pva and plaster 2gether rather than pva the wall first. ive never heard of this. is this an acceptable method? some of the [plaster has started to flake away already

seems strange to me, normally the magical PVA is put on the walls first to help the gear stick, I wouldn't think mixing it in would be a good idea

You should never mix PVA with plaster

whoever did the plastering is not a plasterer

PVA should be applied to the walls twice. It is used to seal the surface and to slow down setting time where the background will suck the moisture out of the plaster causing ot to dry out too quick and crack.

Not to be used externally tho!!!!!!
