I'm building a single storey extention. 4 x 6 meters. I plan to do a lot of the work myself. However I plan to get someone in to dig the foundations. No foreseen issues in the ground and most of the builders want to do it on day rate. I was wondering how much it should cost-ish ?

Not easy to estimate..... If weather OK, then 2 men 2 days with digger and dumper. Day 1 to dig, day 2 to concrete. Reckon on 3 skips @ £200 each, Readymix 6 - 8 cu. meters @ £90 per cu.m. plus labour around £300. Total in the region of £1500 min.

Not many people will want to do foundations other than on a day rate. You don't really know what you will find until you start digging; the ground is full of 'unknown unknowns', to borrow a phrase from a famous philosopher.
