recently i put in 2 lights in a living room which operate with one switch that swithches both on, and what i did is from the second light which only had a link cable i fed another light in the study now what has happened is I have to have the living room lights on for the study lights to work how do i rectify the problem as the ceilings been boarded and plastered and no access from above please someone some advices needed
not that i know of m8 although i came across a problem once where someone had done something similar and to get round it they had used * * ** * ******* ** im sure elecsa will love you for doing that
Even I am confused here, what have you done, sounds like you have just added another light to the second which was existing, if this is correct then of course you need the existing lights on for the added one due to the fact they are all working of the same switch? Or am I missing something?
sorry mate it goes beyond being responsible in an open forum but most sparks will probably guess quick enough
If the lights in the living room are wired loop in then you could use the cable linking lights one and two to pull through two new cables (if you're lucky and no keen git has clipped the cables). One of these would then be the link between lights one and two as before and the other new cable could be used to extend the light radial from light one and then permanently joined to the cable currently supplying the study.
quite a lot you can do,pull the ceiling down a run a new feed for the study light or it you don`t want to take the ceiling down chase round the walls (permitted cable route) don`t forget if its less than 50mm in the wall rcd required. should have thought it out before the ceiling boarded
